I didn't watch the movie at first because I thought it was some historic movie about World War and Hitler. I thought it would be boring. But Jojo Rabbit is one of the best movies in recent times.

It was an eye opening experience to see how the Nazis trained the minds of small kids in camps. It was really hilarious to see the little boy trying really hard to live up to his idol who is none other than Hitler himself.

Hitler as a part of the boy's conscious talking to him was really interesting and Taika Waititi does a convincing job as Hitler.

One of the best thing about the movie is the bonding between Jojo and his mother Rosie. Two scenes between them have remarkable screenplay and dialogs which is the scene by the bridge when Rosie talks about love and the scene at home when Rosie acts like Jojo's father.

It was funny and at the same time thoughtful to see how at the camp little kids were taught that Jews are said to be some evil creatures and that's why they should be killed.

Truly magical conversations were that of Elsa the Jew girl in the attic and Jojo a Nazi fanatic. It was so heartwarming to see how he slowly realised that Jews were not all those creatures he imagined them to be but actual normal humans just like him.

This is not a periodic story about World war or Hitler. This movie is a beautiful story of a little kid who grows up as a fan of someone dangerous and slowly understands reality.

Spoiler alert :

Two best scenes -

  1. Jojo kicking out Hitler from his mind metaphorically. (or literally)

  2. Jojo and Elsa dancing at the end of the movie.
