The Tashkent Files is a Hindi movie that tells an untold story. How many of us know that the second Prime Minister of India, a true Gandhian, a freedom fighter was also born on October 2? We celebrate it as Gandhi Jayanti (Birthday of Gandhiji). But do we even remember it is also Shastriji's birthday? That is the question the movie asks us.

Though the movie is said to have much false information, overdramatic, weak screenplay by many reviewers I would say don't miss it. Because the events and facts told in the movie may be false or true but the question it raises in the mind of a common man is actually why you should watch it.

That is if we think we know everything that needs to be known there is still a lot more underneath that. And even for a common man living in a democratic country, you wouldn't know that such things exist. So us arguing whether our country is the best or if our country is a good one is pointless. Because we shouldn't argue when we don't know the full story.

Any country and its government can hide anything if it wants.

So don't miss the movie which makes these questions arise from the depth of your heart.

The movie discusses India's second Prime Minister's death and the conspiracies involved. The second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri died in Tashkent in erstwhile USSR where he went to sign a peace treaty with Pakistan after winning the war in 1965. The place of death, timing, and even the action of government on not providing any information to the public call for suspicion. The mix of references to cold war, communism and capitalism spread is actually interesting. To get a view into how there were a lot of CIA and KGB spies all around the world is eye-opening.

So thanks to The Tashkent Files movie I will never forget that Shastriji was also born on October 2!!
