I am a Desi(Indian) kpop fan and I became so three years ago. And honestly I'm really happy I discovered kpop. The versatile nature of kpop was really eye opening for me.

For those of you who don't know about kpop you're missing out a lot! kpop is korean pop music industry. kpop mostly has boy groups and girl groups. There are also some individual kpop artists. kpop music is concept driven based on their themes and the groups mostly follow single theme for most of their videos. Though there is a better classification of those themes I prefer to classify it as cute and dark.

To understand it better I'm going to state a few examples. 'Twice' is a girl group in kpop that mostly follows cute theme. Some of their best sings are "yes or yes", "cheer up", "tt", "feel special". And there is another girl group called 'Blackpink' which predominantly follows dark theme and some of their best songs are "how you like that?", "kill this love", "duu duu duu duu".

Indian kpop fans are really keen to see all the new developments in kpop industry and one thing that all Desi kpop fans can agree on is that we are all waiting for a concert of our favorite kpop idols in India. I wish that dream will come true one day for all our sake!

Though it could be hard for today's Desi kpop stans to accept it there were a lot of kpop fans in India especially in northeast before the advent of 'BTS'. There were fans of 'Big bang', '2NE1' and lot more talented kpop groups. But 'BTS' could be considered as one of the major drive factors for the rise kpop fans in India and there is no denying that. I'm telling this out of personal experience. The first kpop song I've ever heard was ''gangnam style". I didn't know that it was kpop back then. Then after knowing about kpop and 'BTS' I heard "just one day". I didn't become a fan immediately. Slowly I heard other songs and then I came across other groups. Now I love all the following groups and I'm happy that I have discovered all these new artists. I love 'BTS', 'Blackpink', 'twice', 'Red velvet', 'txt', 'Got7', '(G)I-dle', 'exo', 'Itzy'. I also found amazing individual idols like 'Iu', 'hyuna', 'G-dragon'.

It is whole new world and you can get to know lot of different things about korean culture just by watching the content made by the production companies with these idols as seperate shows. Example 'BTS' has "Run BTS". Indian kpop fans are starting to do dance, song covers and "burn the stage-the movie" of 'BTS' did a good run in theatres of various Indian cities. The k pop inspired events are also on the rise.

But even though we are having good time interacting with fellow kpop fans we need to educate non kpop fans to not talk in abusive way about kpop idols. Especially male kpop idols are being made fun of by Indians. And it is not a nice thing in general to call someone names by their looks. It is offensive. And to make fun of kpop idols for their looks and fashion is not just bullying. It is a racist thing to do. If you don't find them attractive it is your opinion but to call them names because they look different is not okay.

I hope Desi kpop fans can address this and educate our fellow Indians because with rise of kpop fans we might soon come into light of the marketing and advertising circles of kpop companies. And we may look racist on the world stage if all this kind of acts comes to light.
