Everyone knows about the Chernobyl incident. But after watching the miniseries I did feel a lot more emotional about it than before.
The five-episode miniseries scares us just by making us think that these things happened for real and that too just a few decades ago.
The series was not on my wishlist at all. But nuclear science has always fascinated me. That's how I ended up watching the series. Chernobyl is the scariest TV experience ever for me. I'm that person who hates horror movies and is not scared of it. I'm always more scared about real-world crimes and it is always bone-chilling to think about reality. So Chernobyl gave me many sleepless nights.
Just to think about the people who went through the horror gives me nightmares. I suggested the series to my friends so I could have someone to talk about it. it took me a while to get over it.
The story is world known. A human error leading to a catastrophe. But to watch how every time the disaster was prevented from causing more damage was the edge of the seat experience. I don't know what to say about the real-life heroes who were portrayed in the series. They must have had immense courage to walk into certain death. The chilling afterthought was realizing how there are nuclear reactors all around the world especially when you have seen the effect of a catastrophe that is possible.
The series was short but it was completely on point to convey everything about the Chernobyl accident. To witness how human mistakes can cost millions of lives was painful.
The scare that the series gives is to realise how this has happened in reality and has the possibility of happening in the future. This show is a must-watch given how every one of us has a responsibility as a human to nature and the world. We should realize a single mistake can be catastrophic and can cause uncontrollable effects.
The ticking sound of the GM tube equipment will send you chills up your spine!
